My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lakota is a female American shorthair gray and white older kitten. She was rescued in March 2024 in Charlotte alongside her bonded sister Misu. We estimate her birth month to be August 2023. Lakota has received her 1-year rabies vaccination, and is spayed, and up-to-date on vaccines. She has been combo tested (is negative) and received both FeLV and FVRCP vaccines.

While we don't know all of her history, Lakota was found abandoned and underweight. Thankfully, she has been given a chance at the good life now in our program -- and she LOVES wet food! With her name meaning "friend," she is a friend of Misu and the humans in her presence. She loves playing solo and playing with people, and the other cats in her home. Lakota also enjoys bird watching and sunbathing by the windows.

Lakota is in foster care with exposure to other cats and does well with them. She is required to go with her bonded sister Misu - but trust us, when we say these two are better than one. Our bonded pairs are a discounted rate of $325.

Additional adoption info

Playdates will only be scheduled for approved applicants to protect the safety of our cats and foster families. Adoptions are matched based on best fit, not who applied for a particular cat first. Adoptions are not considered finalized until an adoption contract has been completed and the adoption fee has been paid to Windsor Kittens.

More about this rescue

Windsor Kittens got its start in 2022 when four women in the Windsor Park neighborhood of east Charlotte, NC came together to address the large number of community cats in their area. Since then, this grassroots organization has expanded its efforts to rescue more cats for adoption and help greater numbers of community cats through trap-spay/neuter-vaccinate-release (TNR). Windsor Kittens loves helping cats find their forever homes.
