My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hogan is looking for a hero! This affectionate boy was found roaming the streets so we're trying to get to know him. So far, we know the way to his heart is pets! Hogan loves pets allll over and will lean into you for back scratches. Hogan is a bit stressed in the shelter and would love a safe home where he can decompress and get all the pets he deserves.

Hogan is available for foster and adoption at ACCT Philly. Interested fosters should email foster@acctphilly.org. You can meet him any day from 10am-6pm. He hopes to see you soon!

Behavior:
Per Volunteer 4/28/24: Such a love bug!! Hogan is a very affectionate boy. He waited patiently for leashing then hopped right out with me happily. He's pretty strong and would benefit from a harness for some pulling. When we got outside I sat on a bench and he put his paws in my lap and put his head against me. I gave him so many pets and he was loving in! Takes rubs all over. Didn't seem very interested in toys today, not overly interested in treats but ate some of them. He responds well to sounds and being called. No issues going back into his kennel and took some more pets while I was unleashing him. Such a sweetie!

Per Staff 4/27/24: Hogan came running up to the doro when he saw me. He jumped up on the door with soft eyes and a wagging tail. He got down when I opened the door and told him "get down"
When we entered the room Hogan began stress panting and pacing around immediately. He began jumping on and pawing at the door while whining soon into our interaction. I was able to distract him by giving him attention. Hogan is such a sweet, friendly boy! Even though he was stressed, the only thing that seemed to help him was pets and attention. He had very little interest in treats and only took possession of a toy for a couple minutes. Hogan was all about the pets. He allowed all over handling with no issues, he just stood there and panted while I loved him up. He leans in hard when he's enjoying his pets. He got very jumpy as he got more stressed, and with his size it's a bit much. At one point he began jumping and trying to nip at my face. I told him a firm "no" and pushed him down and he stopped going for my face, but still jumped up and wrapped his arms around me. He did not wrap around me hard or mount me, he just stood there hugging me while I pet him. He's a very friendly guy, just sooo stressed right now

Per Staff 4/26/24: super friendly and wiggly. Very strong and pulls hard on leash. Allowed all handling
