My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Knight, who is currently looking for his knight in shining armor! Poor Knight is pretty stressed in the shelter, but when he gets outside he shows what a sweet and gentle boy he truly is! Knight has been at the shelter a few times now so is looking for a safe forever home, who can help him decompress and show off his affectionate personality. He's available for adoption at ACCT Philly- meet him any day from 10am-6pm!

Behavior notes --
Per volunteer on 5/6: Knight is such a sweet boy! He was wagging his tail when I approached the kennel and he took treats very gently through the bars. Outside, he pulls a bit on his leash but is very manageable. He sniffed around a lot in the run but did engage with me several times. He even showed me that he knows sit! He was so curious about all the people walking by the run and ran up to the with a wagging tail. He's such a friendly, happy boy!

Per Staff 5/4/24: Became stressed during exam and snapped multiple times. Basket muzzle before starting exam! Loves cheese

Per Volunteer 5/3/24: Super sweet boy! He's a big boy and pretty strong, but very responsive to any pressure on leash. No issue with leashing, waited patiently for me to leash then jumped right out excitedly. Outside he showed me sit- he takes treats super nicely!! No snatching at all. Didn't show any interest in toys. Very gentle with me overall- took cuddles all over and liked his butt and head scratches. leaned into me while getting rubs. He had an upset belly today with some blood in his stool so I left a medical alert slip

Per Staff 5/3/24: Knight got to meet another dog today, Glave. They were both excited to greet each other and pulled strongly toward each other. Knight greeted with raised hackles, a high wagging tail, and stiff body. He did hover over Glave a bit but Glave took it well. At one point Glave attempted to mount Knight and Knight gave a very minor correction (spun around and muzzle booped) and Glave took the correction well. Towards the end they started jumping and trying to play with each other, but Glave's eyes got hard so we separated them. Overall, I think both dogs could definitely have some dog friends as long as there are slow introductions.

Per Staff 5/2/24: (Name formerly Nightmare) Nightmare was at the front of kennel with soft eyes and a neutral body. He was very patient for leashing and allowed me to easily leash him and exit the kennel. he is very scared of the clip on the leash for some reason and will run away form it or snap at it- if using the clip method to return be cautious when clipping as it spooks him and he may react! Nightmare is a sensitive boy! In the room he was very sweet towards me and another handler. he was very gentle and had great manners, seeking out attention from us often and would rest his head on our laps while we pet him. if I stopped petting him he would glance up with soft eyes and lean in closer. At times he would flinch away if you moved too fast over his head but was never tense or reactive. he was very affectionate towards both of us and was very food motivated. He took treats gently and showed knowledge of sit. He HATES the clip on the end of the clip leashes and will run away or snap at it. Be careful when clipping the leash due to this.

Per Staff 5/2/24: An ACA was returning Nightmare to kennel and nightmare began to pull backwards. I threw a trachea in his kennel to coax him with and when she went to clip the leash he freaked out and began to thrash and snapped at her. He got loose from her and another ACA was able to catch him at the end of the kennel. He quickly put him into a controlled hug with a grip on his head so he could not swing around at him and then returned him to kennel without issue

Per Staff 3/7/24: Placing on evaluate, officer described him as "a bit feisty" and requested assistance with removing him from vehicle. ACA assisted with getting him out of vehicle, she said he was scared/fearful but not reactive.
