My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, it’s nice to meet you, I’m Diablo, a 3 year old, 25 lb., dachshund/chi mix. I don’t remember much about my former life, but I’m glad to be with A Home of Their Own Animal Rescue to find my forever home. I’m a little shy around new people given all the changes I’ve been through. I’ve been in a couple of foster homes before, and I discovered that I feel more comfortable around adults and older children. Younger children scare me with their quick, sometimes unpredictable movements.

I am looking for a forever home that is patient and loving. I believe I’m housetrained, but I may need a refresher. Also, I’d need some help feeling comfortable on a leash or find a home with an enclosed yard where I can exercise and do my business. I like crates because they feel so cozy and safe. That said, I may need some coaxing in the beginning to get out of my crate and into the world. I’m a sensitive guy with a big heart once I trust someone. Are you that forever trustworthy person I’m looking for?!

Additional adoption info

The process to adopt/foster dogs and cats is different. Please speak to the volunteer assisting you in the adoption process to confirm details about the process.

Go meet their pets

We hold adoption events every weekend in the DC/Baltimore Metro Area and also schedule private meet and greets once a potential adopter/foster has applied for a specific dog or cat.
