My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Opie! I was found and rescued on a busy SF street. I’m a sweet mini house panther who loves being around humans, and giving and receiving affection.

I’m initially a bit shy in new environments but very loyal once we bond. Giving me love and attention will never go unnoticed and I’ll happily return love back to you to show how much happiness it brings. I’m an expert lap cat who will keep you company for ages! I love laps and humans love petting my soft fur while telling me I have the cutest little face so it’s a win for everyone.

My energy is mellow and graceful and I’m a huge fan of sleeping in and being cozy and snuggly.

I’m a very loving kitty, an awesome best friend, and I can’t wait to meet you!

You can see more of me here @opie.thekittycat.

Concerned about me being FIV+? There's lots of informative reading material online to free you of any worries. I can live a long healthy life and safely with other cats, meow. Here's one website that offers some important information - Best Friends - FIV FAQs

Please note:

  • Opie has tested positive for FIV.
  • Indoor only

More about this rescue

Every day adult and senior cats with treatable medical and behavioral conditions are euthanized. GIVE ME SHELTER's goal is to rescue these cats from certain death and place them into loving permanent homes.
GMS is a registered 501(c)3 organization and is dedicated to helping stop the overpopulation of unwanted and abandoned cats. We are a small group of dedicated volunteers who are committed to bettering the life of adult cats who no longer have a home to call their own. Every time you adopt from us, you allow us to save another cat that would have otherwise died. We receive new cats into our system almost every week. Our website is constantly being updated, so please check back often!
