My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gully, a gentle soul with a heart as big as his dreams of finding a forever home. This timid but sweet guy is on a quest for a family who will cherish him for who he is and understand his need for patience and understanding as he navigates the world around him. Gully's journey began when he was found as a stray, wandering the streets alone. Luckily, fate led him to cross paths with a kind soul who saw beyond his initial shyness and recognized the loving spirit within.

What Gully longs for most is a family of his own, a place where he can feel safe and loved unconditionally. He thrives in a calm and supportive environment, where he can take his time to adjust and come out of his shell. That's why he would do best in a home with older kids who can understand his need for space and respect his boundaries. While Gully may be a bit cautious around other dogs at first, with slow introductions and patience, he's sure to make furry friends in no time. However, he does have a playful streak and enjoys romping around with his canine pals once he feels comfortable. As for cats, well, let's just say Gully has a bit of a chasing instinct. For this reason, he would do best in a home without any feline companions.

Despite his initial reservations, Gully's heart is full of love just waiting to be shared. With the right family by his side, he's ready to embark on the next chapter of his life, filled with wagging tails, cozy cuddles, and endless adventures. Are you ready to open your heart to this sweet and timid pup?

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
