My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Egypt, the adorable and affectionate canine companion who's ready to steal your heart. With glowing references from her previous family, Egypt has proven herself to be a gentle and loving soul, especially with older kids whom she adores. Her playful nature extends to dogs of all sizes, as she has happily lived with a small dog and enjoyed romping with both large and small furry friends. While Egypt's exuberance knows no bounds when it comes to toys and playtime, she does have a bit of a feline fixation, requiring a home where cats are kept separate. However, her boundless affection and friendly demeanor make her a cherished addition to any family. Egypt is currently excelling in crate training and is fully housebroken, showcasing her intelligence and eagerness to please. Although she may be a tad shy in new environments, her sweet disposition shines through, making her the perfect companion for a quieter household with older children, where she can continue to spread joy and laughter with her endearing personality.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
