My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bandit!

This adorable scruffy boy was found abandoned with two of his siblings. At only 4 months old, they had clearly been fending for themselves for a while in a very rural area. When they were picked up they were all quite scared but Bandit has been in a foster home and is adjusting nicely.

He is a sweet and timid boy with lovely pleading brown eyes. He needs the company of an adult dog to help show him the way. He likes to follow their example. Bandit is doing great but is still shy and needs a patient family to continue to introduce him to all the things. He is a gentle boy with a great temperament  and with some training he will be a wonderful companion. He does not have great leash skills just yet but he is learning. A home with a yard is best for him.

From his foster mom:

Hi, I am Bandit.  I am working really hard at being able to trust people.  It takes me a little bit to warm up to strangers but once I know that I am safe I am a really good boy.  I am potty trained and I like to sleep in my kennel at night.  I am working on not getting so stressed out when my foster mom leaves me alone.  I may bark for a bit but I settle in quickly.

I love being outside and I am actually much more confident outside. I would love a house that I could have a dog sibling especially if they are confident and brave to help show me how to behave.  I have not been around kids or cats so I don’t know how I would react to them.  But I do love dogs of all sizes.  I would especially like a house with string cheese.  I really do like that as a reward for being good.

I tend to be a bit goofy and sometimes I steal slippers because I think it is fun to run around the house with them.  Even though I know I am not suppose to.

I am looking for someone to be patient with me and allow me space to fall in love with you. I tend to bond with people on walks and exploring together so someone who likes to take me outside and show me new things would be best.    I am working on basic commands.  I am getting pretty good at sitting when asked and I don’t like the word no but I know what it means.

Bandit has had his puppy vaccinations, has been chipped and dewormed. He will be neutered at our cost between 8-12 months of age. His adoption fee is $495.

We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life!

More about this rescue

Saving Great Animals is a match-making rescuer. We have no public facility. We work individually to do our best in matching your desires and lifestyle to the best animal pal. We love what we do! We are Seattle-based but have representatives in all parts of Washington state and the Pacific Northwest.

We are volunteer-based and everyone in our rescue works full time at paying careers,

Saving Great Animals has been working tirelessly as a no-kill, foster-based rescue for the last 9 years. We also are connected to a wide network of foster homes and numerous shelters around the state to find permanent homes for animals that are deserving of love and a family. Many of the dogs and cats we rescue would otherwise face unecessary euthanization.

We also work hard to bring dogs and cats into SGA directly from their former home so they animals will never enter the shelter system which has environments that can be very stressful for them, even though we know so many shelter workers who are tireless too in helping the animals.

A very small percentage of our dogs come to us from our sister-shelter in Taiwan, where these dogs are typically rescued from deplorable circumstances.

All of our pets available for foster or adoption also are listed on PetFinder at (http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/WA418.html).

To contact SGA directly, please email info@savinggreatanimals.org.

If you are interested in fostering or volunteering, we want to hear from you! We are finalizing our 501 C-3 status; and do appreciate any and all donations as 100% of our funds, every penny, goes to the animals. We are always extremely tight on funds, frequently dipping into our own pockets. All donations can be paid by paypal by sending to perrin@savinggreatanimals.org
