My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Clear the way for Desiree, the charismatic feline spitfire (and sweetheart) you've been waiting for! This little girl is the perfect blend of sweet and sassy. Desiree's playful nature knows no bounds, and she's always ready for action, whether she's wrestling with her buddies or independently launching an assault on her favorite toys. She's not one to shy away from a challenge, and she'll gladly go toe-to-toe with any kitten who crosses her path. When the day's excitement settles, Desiree transforms into a cuddly and affectionate companion who loves to settle down and share some love.

But there is something different about Desiree. You can't help but notice that her fierce leaps go awry or she teeters unexpectedly when she moves. That's because Desiree has cerebellar hypoplasia (CH) - also known as wobbly cat syndrome. It's a condition some cats are born with when the brain's cerebellum doesn't develop correctly. The cerebellum helps cats (and you!) with coordination and other automatic body movements. Without a properly formed cerebellum, cats like Desiree are wobbly on their paws.

But not to worry: This spirited girl knows what she wants, and she's determined to adapt and flourish. And Desiree is already quite self-sufficient. She can use the litter box independently, and she's making remarkable progress in improving her mobility every day. Desiree will also thrive with some extra patience and simple adaptations in her fur-ever home, like plenty of carpeting that's easy to grip and safe territory that's far away from stairs.

With her unwavering determination, Desiree is on a path to thrive in the right home, where she'll make your heart swell with her boundless curiosity, playful antics, and the love she has to give. If you're ready to provide her with the loving and supportive home she deserves, Desiree will be your loyal and charming companion, adding a special touch of joy to your life every day. Don't miss the opportunity to bring this remarkable cat into your family; she's ready to prove that love and determination can overcome any obstacle.

More about this rescue

Kitten Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization devoted to finding loving homes for unwanted, homeless cats and kittens. We rescue cats and kittens from the streets of Los Angeles and from City Shelter euthanasia. Since our start in 1997, we have grown into one of the largest, most well-respected animal welfare groups in LA.

Kitten Rescue volunteers adopt out over 2,000 cats and kittens into homes every year. We educate the public about responsible pet guardianship, how to care for kittens and cats, and the importance of spaying and neutering. Kitten Rescue makes educational material available via events, print, school presentations and here on our website. We also provide Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) assistance for communities in and around Los Angeles, and teach people how to manage and care for feral cat colonies.
