My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

CHANDLER is available!

Chandler is an estimated 3-month-old male purebred Golden Retriever pup that was turned into a local emergency vet as a found stray along with another male and two female puppies.  (Three of the puppies have been already placed.) All four puppies were treated for suspected  Parvo and are doing well. Chandler is currently with a foster and described as very playful.  He is looking for a home with a fenced yard where they can run and play. Any resident dogs must be fully vaccinated, and some basic guidelines will need to be followed.  AGR will take care of initial vaccines for Chandler and neutering when he is of age.   Please note: it is the policy of AGR not to place a dog less than 3 years of age with a family that has children less than 3 years of age.

All potential fosters and adopters must complete an application, pay the $25.00 application fee and have a home visit before being considered for any dog.  If you reside in Arizona and are interested in adopting a dog like this from Arizona Golden Rescue, we recommend that you visit our website and complete the Online Adoption Application to begin the process.

WE DO NOT ADOPT OUTSIDE OF THE STATE OF ARIZONA. Once we receive your application and application fee, a home visit will be scheduled. Once your home visit is approved, you will be placed on our waiting list. (Please be aware that your application cannot be processed until the application fee is paid.)

Our sole purpose is to find the perfect home for the dog as our dogs always come first. Because we have new rescues coming in all the time, if the Golden    that is the right dog for you is not available at this time it will probably come into Rescue and you would be notified of the availability.

Waiting times vary depending upon how specific your preferences are. The more you restrict the factors involved in choosing a dog – age, sex, coat color, etc. – the longer the wait may be before we find the perfect dog for you.

Arizona Golden Rescue is organized as an all-volunteer, non-profit, 501 (c) (3) corporation. We are a charitable organization whose mission is to rescue displaced Golden Retrievers and mostly Golden mixes that have been abused, abandoned, neglected or unwanted and find new, loving, permanent homes for them. Rescued dogs are given a complete veterinary exam and their vaccines are updated; they are also micro-chipped, spayed or neutered, and tested for valley fever and heartworm. AGR provides emotional and medical rehabilitation and will pay for medications and for necessary surgeries. Through education at public appearances, AGR seeks to educate the public about the Golden Retriever breed and about responsible dog ownership, in order to help reduce the unwanted dog population.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Please note that all adoptable dogs remain on the website until their adoptions are finalized. As hard as we try to screen the adoptable dogs and their new potential "Forever Home", there is always the possibility that the FWITA (Foster With Intent To Adopt) and the adoptable dog are not compatible and then the dog would return to adoptable status"

Application must be submitted; can be downloaded from website. Home evaluation is done. Once approved, applicant must wait for placement of dog. If fostering with intent to adopt, applicant must pay membership fee (minimum $25 for single, $40 for household) and dog's adoption fee, which ranges from $400 for 0-2-year-old, to $375 for 2-5, $350 for 5- 9 and $300 for over 9. Organization covers all vet costs while dog is in foster care and until adoption is finalized.
