My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Prince!

Need some big love? Look no further!!! At 100 pounds, I can give you plenty OF love and plenty TO love. My name is Prince, and I’m a senior, handsome, healthy, sweet & gentle boy with plenty of energy still in me. You could change my name, but I know it well. I was a loved pet prior to ending up in rescue (no fault of my own). I turned up heartworm positive and received treatments early this year, and now all is good. I still have a slight cough from those treatments, and it may last a bit before it goes away. Other than that… a clean bill of health! I am potty trained and crate trained (although I really don’t need to be in it). I know a few simply commands like SIT, LAY DOWN, and PAW. Yes, I’m a gentleman and will shake your hand.

Some might say I’m a little thick and have a few pounds to lose, but that just means I’m a gentle giant, is all. Foster mom and I are working on that with daily walks two times a day, and I’m clearing 2 to 2.5 miles a day. I love walks!!! I don't pull EXCEPT if I see a squirrel or another dog. Hold on tight because that 100 lbs is a lot when I want something. So probably a good idea an adult or strong teenager is in charge of walking me. I am dog friendly and want to meet other dogs, but I will also protect you if I sense the situation warrants it. My family means the most to me, and I will stand up for you. Foster mom says I read situations very well and respond to whatever is given to me. You get what you give she always says!

I have really warmed up to my foster mom and have become a “velcro dog” she says. I am a smart boy! I spent many years as an outside dog in Tennessee, but I gotta say I don’t mind being an inside dog now, especially with these cold Wisconsin days. I will sleep in my dog bed next to you and never leave your side. Honestly, wherever you are, I want to be. Reminds me of that one song by that artist….what’s his name…. oh yeah, Prince – just like me. It’s called Take Me With You

As I mentioned before, I am dog friendly, so if you have a dog sibling for me, that is great. Simply remember, foster mom’s saying – you get what you give. If you want to play, I play. If you want to shake a tail feather in my face, I will respond accordingly… all 100lbs of me. I love all people and kids, too. I think I am easy to please and could fit right in with just about any scenario - a family, a retired couple, or even a single person. I hope you are the one who wants to take me home and get all the love I have to give!

Additional adoption info

Albert's Dog Lounge is a foster-based rescue providing compassionate care to special needs, senior, and hospice dogs.

Our adoption process begins with a completed application. From there, we will review references and vet records. The next step is a home visit with your family. This visit may be in person or virtual.  At that point, if approved, we will set up a meet and greet with available dogs.

All dogs have an adoption fee of $275 for a single dog or $500 for (bonded) pair, unless otherwise noted.

Note: Pairs must be adopted at the same time to get the reduced adoption fee.

-Applications with incomplete information will not be processed.
- All current dogs in the home must be spayed or neutered, up to date on rabies vaccination, up to date on DHLPP, up to date on Heartworm testing and preventative.
- All cats in the home must be spayed or neutered and up to date on a rabies vaccination or wellness exam.
- None of our dogs will be adopted to prospective owners who mislead or fail to provide accurate information on the adoption application and/or the adoption contract. Albert's Dog Lounge reserves the right to refuse adoption to anyone.
- You must agree that if you are no longer able to keep your rescue dog for whatever reason, the dog will be returned to Albert's Dog Lounge. The adopter must agree to never attempt to sell or rehome the dog at any point.

Our goal is to place our seniors into permanent, loving homes for the rest of their golden years.

More about this rescue

Albert's Dog Lounge is a foster-based rescue focused on providing loving homes to seniors, special needs, and hospice dogs. We help dogs in need from overcrowded shelters and also from local families who are no longer able to care for their pets.

Albert's Dog Lounge was established in 2017 with the vision to be the stepping stone to a new life for those dogs who are less likely to be rescued, adopted, or at a higher risk for euthanasia.
