My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Please contact Debra (derrycats@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.

Meet Ember, the orange female young adult cat who will steal your heart with her affectionate nature! Ember is a Velcro kitty who loves being with you, and is very happy to curl up with you in bed if allowed. She has a heartwarming story of resilience, having been abandoned by her original people and left outside to fend for herself until she came to rescue.

Ember does have some nasal congestion, which is a permanent condition. It is easily managed, however, with inexpensive medication given 2 or 3 times a week. Despite this Ember is a very chill and low-key cat, simply happy to be by your side.

She is spayed, up to date on all her vaccines (through 2027), has tested negative for FIV and FELV, and is microchipped. Plus her litter box habits are impeccable. Ember is not only sweet and playful; she’s also looking for a home where she can be the center of attention. She prefers to be the only cat, or might do well with an older cat who doesn’t mind sharing space but isn’t overly interested in her. She sleeps nightly with a lab mix who has no interest in her and does fine with the dog.

If you’re ready to welcome a loving companion into your life, Ember can't wait to meet you! Apply for her at www.castawaycritters.org/adopt.

Additional adoption info

We offer an online adoption application at www.castwaycritters.org. We do check references, vet references, and housechecks. Once you are approved, you will be required to fill out an adoption agreement. Our animals have all been wormed, altered and vaccinated. Cats have been tested for FIV/FeLV. For more information, see our website at www.castawaycritters.org.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

All of our animals are in foster care so please complete an application at our website (www.castawaycritters.org) before meeting them. Completing an application does not obligate you to adopt; however, it is required. Applications are processed in the order received in an effort to find the best match possible for both the dog and the adopter.

Please also check out our events page on our website as fosters sometimes bring their available animals out to meet people!

More about this rescue

We are a non-profit rescue group that takes in stray, abandoned, and sick animals, giving them medical and foster care until available for adoption. We offer low cost spay/neuter clinics to the public and a special program called Operation CatNIP for pet cats of low income qualified individuals and feral cats, and assist in TNR for cats.
