My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hola friends, My name is Victor Hugo, and I was living at a dog rescue in Jalisco Mexico patiently waiting to be adopted. But fate had a different plan for me… instead, 4 Little Paws Rescue brought me to America on a bus along with 30 other rescue dogs to help us find forever homes. So here I am. Currently in San Antonio Texas with my new foster mom, a little boy, and the resident dog, and I have settled in nicely, making friends with everyone immediately.

I am a very handsome German Shepherd & Hound Dog mix with big ol’ floppy ears and a heart of gold. I’m young, almost 2 years old and I weigh 46 lbs. I was known as the “ambassador of goodwill” at the rescue in Mexico because I get along splendidly with other dogs and cats, and I adore children. My gentle demeanor and patient nature made me stand out in a crowd as the perfect companion for a loving family. I’m playful and happy, easygoing and loyal. I have a medium energy level and enjoy playful romps in the yard as much as I enjoy snuggling beside you for pets and quiet moments of affection. I am grateful for this opportunity to find a forever home and I’m ready for one last road trip to make it happen. I’m moving to Connecticut next week, riding on board a Mercedes transport van for almost 2 days and it will all make sense the moment we meet and realize it was meant to be.

* 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.

Additional adoption info

Please DO NOT apply unless the entire family / household is on board with adopting one of our dogs. We must receive an application for you to move forward in the process. Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.

More about this rescue

We are a small group devoted to saving dogs from the multitudes of high kill shelters in Texas, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and California. We specialize in saving small to medium breed types and re-homing in the North East where there is less unwanted dog overflow and a high volume of qualified adopters.
