My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please read bio before inquiring. To read it in its entirety, please go to our website & click on available dogs: papillonpalsrescue.com/available-dogs

Fred is estimated to be 1 years old and weighs 10 pounds. ***Secure fenced yard required*** Rescued from a hoarding situation so he is not socialized but with time and patience he'll come around. Looking for a family who can show him love and give him the plenty of time to learn how life is supposed to be. He's super sweet and trying hard to trust. He has been in his foster home for a month & will still run if you make eye contact or say "HI FRED" but he has learned that at bedtime, although Foster Mom corners him (slowly moving in & slowly going towards him), she will pick him up & love on him - he seems to really like that. He is not going to be a fast fix & will need a family that is committed to him, to help him learn to trust & to teach him that the world doesn't have to be so scary. (It's taken about a month & he JUST came up to me yesterday to be pet when the others were around).

Great with other dogs, cats unknown and older children 12+ only because she is skittish. He is not housetrained (although when you open the slider & walk out, he will come behind you & go do his business as long as you don't turn towards him or call his name), has not walked on a leash yet or comfortable being handled but he needs to be cuddled (which means you need to know how to calmly corner a pup & slowly bend down to pick them up). This precious little boy needs to know he matters. Other socialized dog/s in a home would be perfect for him to watch and learn as he absolutely loves to play with them when he gets more comfortable in the home (& thinks you're not watching). Fred absolutely loves playing with Baron, Pascal & Haru (not yet listed as we're still working on his gi issues) & when he thinks the coast is clear, will run around, chasing & playing with them. It's so cute to watch him relax from his fearful state & be a youthful dog.

Interested in learning more about Fred or want to be considered to be his furever family? Please fill out the application so we can get to work on our end to see if we can make a match.

Adoption radius is 250'ish miles from Jacksonville, FL. All other pets must be spayed/neutered & on heartworm prevention.

Additional adoption info

In order to ensure a perfect match, we screen all adoption applicants. We require anyone wanting to adopt to complete an adoption application and we check personal and vet references. Final step before files goes to the Adoption Committee for review is to conduct a home visit with all members of the potential adoptive family. Fees for adoptions vary based on whether the dog's purebred, the age and health status of the dog. Contact us via email and we will send you our Adoption Application and tell you a little more about the dog you're interested in adopting!
