Kota is a beautiful one year old retriever mix. She came to us with her sister Dani. Kota was extremely bonded to Dani and we felt it was best to separate them so Kota could develop some independence and confidence on her own. What we’ve found is while Kota is nervous at first she warms up quickly to her “person”. So much so she wants to be right on top of you and in your lap at all times. Because of this she isn’t too found of the crate but she is learning to tolerate it, She is 100% house trained. Kota wants nothing more than to please you and is very treat motivated which helps with her training! We know Kota will blossom with the proper structure, patience, exposure and a dedicated adopter who will provide all of this. We would like to see Kota go to a household with another active dog present to show her the ropes and ease the transition.
We believe Kota can go to a responsible family with kids, cats or other dogs present. She has been exposed to all and has shown no issues. Kota is pretty jumpy when excited so boundaries and proper exercise will be important if the home has smaller children.
