My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Winnie came to her foster home with seven newborn puppies and lost all seven of them to parvo. Her foster grieved with her and gave her the most comfortable and safe space they could to learn how to be a dog. The ideal home for Winnie would continue teaching her and showing her how loving humans really can be. She is extremely loyal and needs a patient family. She would do great in a home with cats but may also thrive with another calm dog in the family. She will become an adventurous dog, but with time and trust. Winnie is 2 years old and weighs 28 pounds. She interacts well with other dogs and is an angel with cats. She is gentle and low energy so she would do great in a family with kids. She has displayed behaviors that indicate she was abused by a past owner; therefore, she is timid when meeting new people but still manage to warm up to them within ten minutes. She is a bit confused on a leash, but with guidance she is learning the point of going on a walk. She is very quiet in the car and does not get sick. She is crate trained and house broken. She knows sit and lie down….in Spanish! Winnie is the cuddliest foster ever. She will snuggle up right with you and want belly rubs, hugs, and kisses. She appreciates every second of love and adoration you give her, it seems like she didn’t receive any before. She also loves chewing on treats. Her ability to show how much she can still love despite her troubled past is amazing. Winnie still bounced back after loosing her pups to become a lively, happy, young dog. Her foster has never cuddled so much with a dog before and will miss her dearly. Whoever is lucky enough to call her their dog, will feel how strong her loyalty is. Their adoption process

Submit Application

Submitting an application is always our first step - it's free to apply! bcaaofnj.org

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.
