My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pancake
Who doesn't love a pancake? Top 'em with blueberries, and you've got a prize-winning breakfast! Being a stray cat, I wasn't born with this name, but it seems perfect for me. I am 2-years-old and weigh only 7 pounds. I think I look pretty buff in my photos. I am solid black; some might call me a house panther. But I am also a big scaredy-cat! Because I was so fearful and acting like a big doofus when I arrived at the HSHC, I went to live in a foster home to help make me more confident. I've reached some critical milestones in the two and a half months I've lived there----
I use the litterbox perfectly.
I now love food!
I will seek out my foster mom for attention.
I still avoid being pet and startle easily, but I sniff her routinely.
I give 100% effort to playing with wand toys and toys you throw.
I also carry soft toys around so I can play by myself.
I love playing chase with the cats who live there.
I love sitting in a cat tree!
I still need to learn the joys of touching, petting, cuddling, or letting someone sit beside me. But with the right owner who understands fearful cats, I plan on doing just that. Because of my anxiety, I need a home where everyone is 18 or older. 5-21-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
