My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maverick is jsut under 9 years old who has had a rough start to his life :(  We took him into our rescue when a Good Samaritan who was feeding him (and a few other strays) noticed he was injured and bleeding from his mouth. Maverick went immediately to our vet for an exam, neuter, and vaccines. xrays were taken and they noticed that he had some old injuries (fractures) that did not heal properly. We also had bloodwork done and found out that he was extremly anemic and needed a blood transfusion. We brought him to the Emergency vet where he stayed for a few days to get better which included a blood transfusion, endoscopy, ultrasound, and a dental procedure (his teeth were a mess and this could have been why he would be randomly bleed from his mouth). We are happy to report that after his blood transfusion and dental procedure, Maverick has not had any more episodes of bleeding!! Maverick does have a very pronounced limp on one of his back legs. All the doctors that have examined Maverick do not feel that anything can be done for this limping at this time and that Maverick's adopter will just need to keep an eye on it. If the limp starts to impact Maverick's daily quality of life, his leg may need to be amputated. Now more about Maverick!

Maverick's #1 favorite activity is eating!  You can tell by the photos that Maverick does not skip a meal and like a good roommate he often cleans their dishes too.  Maverick knows when it's feeding time and has the cutest little meow to let us know he is hungry. Maverick's new family will need to monitor his food intake as he should not gain any more weight as any more weight puts more pressure on his back legs (which he does not need to happen). Maverick has also learned that geeting pets and neck scratches  are pretty nice.  He has even started coming to volunteers to get more pets! We are also working with Maverick on being picked up, but like most cats, this is not his favorite activity, but he will tolerate being held for very short amounts of time. Maverick has come along way since being with us for the past 10 months and is now ready to find his forever home were he can be an indoor only kitty to spend his senior years.  As long as you have an extra cat bed and of course cat food, you can make Maverick a very happy kitty.  Maverick did test positive for FIV but everyone that follows us knows that is no big deal. Cats with FIV can live long, happy lives and can live with non-FIV cats as long the cats get along. We are happy to answer questions about FIV.

Maverick is neutered, received age-appropriate vaccines and deworming, and is microchipped (free lifetime registration with adoption).

All of our pets go home with a "Go Home Goody Bag" that includes a starter supply of food, treats, toys, and a voucher for a free month of pet insurance from Trupanion.
