Joker is a handsome 11-year old male American Pit Bull Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV after hours on May 3, 2024 along with his best friend (Chloe). They were taken inside the shelter by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff and our HSOV Executive Director shortly after their arrival. Thankfully a note was left with Joker and Chloe which gave their names and ages.
Joker has a dark brown/brindle-and-white short smooth coat, a long tail, and a handsome (rather mischievous-looking) face with a brindle-and-white 'phantom-of-the-opera' type mask, a black button nose, and large semi-erect ears.
These photos were taken on May 4th 2024 when HSOV Kennel Tech Hannah McClain and Volunteer Tracy Lynn accompanied Joker and Chloe for their outdoor photo session.
Joker has a happy, playful outgoing personality and defies the chronological age on his kennel card. He thoroughly enjoyed his 15-minutes of fame running laps around Hannah and smiling for the camera.
Joker weighs 51 lbs and is very strong on a leash for his physical size.

The HSOV Adoption application is available at our shelter during normal hours of operation and may also be completed online via our website.

Shelter management reviews applications for approval. If approved, potential adopters will be notified.

Take the Pet Home
All HSOV dogs and cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted and going to their new home.

Our adoption process includes an adoption application which must be completed and approved by our shelter management. We verify veterinarian references and also approval from landlords if the pet will be housed in rental property. Home visits may also be required prior to adoption. All dogs/cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted.
Adoption fee for dogs is $150.00 which includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, dog tag, microchip, and spay/neuter.
Adoption fee for cats is $40 and includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, and spay/neuter. Most adult cats (and kittens over 3-months of age) have already been spayed/neutered.

We work very hard with our rescue groups to move our animals quickly and safely. We do this because we work for those who have no voice.
