Remington is a handsome 3-year old American Pit Bull Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV after hours on the evening of February 25, 2024 and left in our care along with his two companions (Beretta and Ruger). The individual who drove them to our shelter did not leave any information with them, so it is unclear whether they were found as strays or were owner surrenders. None of the trio were wearing a collar, and they were not microchipped.
Remington has a white-and-brown short smooth coat, a long tail, and a cute face with dark brown eyes, a brown patch on the right-hand side of his face, a tiny chubby muzzle, and short semi-erect ears.
Remington weighs 39 lbs.
In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Remington was held for three days so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership.
Since Remington was not reclaimed, he will be neutered in the near future and will soon be ready to find a loving home with someone who would love/spoil him to his heart's content. Remington could also be fostered-to-adopt with an approved HSOV adoption/foster application.
These updated photos of Remington were taken on March 25, 2024 after he was chosen to announce the HSOV Wednesday Wish List for March 27, 2024.
When we asked Remington if he might like to wear some Bunny Ears for his updated photos (since Easter was only a few days away), he ‘hopped’ at the chance to wear blue-and-white bunny ears and an Easter peeps bow tie. And the offer even got better when we told him that HSOV Kennel Techs Hayley Sturm and Hannah Mcclain would be his partners-in-crime.
Remington is a pushover for attention .. And he gives terrific ‘puppy kisses’ (which has been confirmed by Hayley and Hannah).
UPDATE: Remington was neutered on April 2, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine.

Shelter management reviews applications for approval. If approved, potential adopters will be notified.

All HSOV dogs and cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted and going to their new home.

Our adoption process includes an adoption application which must be completed and approved by our shelter management. We verify veterinarian references and also approval from landlords if the pet will be housed in rental property. Home visits may also be required prior to adoption. All dogs/cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted.
Adoption fee for dogs is $150.00 which includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, dog tag, microchip, and spay/neuter.
Adoption fee for cats is $40 and includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, and spay/neuter. Most adult cats (and kittens over 3-months of age) have already been spayed/neutered.
Adoption fees for other species varies.
