My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SUGAR is a gorgeous Siamese mix girl with a cream body and chocolate points on her tail, face, ears and feet, about four years old. Sugar came from a colony of stray cats in Oakridge at a very young age to her foster home. She is a high energy, super affectionate cat who loves to be an active part in her humans' lives. Sugar wants to be in your lap, give you kisses, play like crazy with you, and help you with whatever you are doing. She will play with your hair from the top of the chair, and she will fall asleep with her paw draped around your neck. She is quite the talker, she sits and lies in the silliest of poses that make you laugh, and she loves watching TV with you. This fabulous beauty has a tremendous amount of love to share with her very lucky new person or family.

Unfortunately Sugar had a severe allergic reaction to regular cat kibble, causing her to be extremely itchy and her skin to break out. Her foster mom tried out the prescription diets that her vets recommended, but it didn’t help. Her foster mom finally had success feeding her a raw food diet. This food can be purchased at the Healthy Pet in Eugene, and when you buy 12 bags and bag #13 is free. This is a cat who will never be able to eat canned or kibble cat food, and she must remain on the raw food diet for the rest of her life. The cost for this is about $120 per month, and this incredibly darling cat is worth every penny! If there are other pets in the household, care must be taken that she can never access their food. She currently lives with several other cats in her foster home, and she is fed twice daily in a large carrier that she eagerly jumps into each mealtime. PLEASE NOTE THAT A HOME VISIT WILL BE REQUIRED BEFORE SUGAR'S ADOPTION.

SUGAR has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, is negative for FeLV and FIV, and includes a free wellness visit with our vet partners.  To meet SUGAR in foster care, submit an adoption application for consideration at CatRescues.org/Adopt or a paper copy available at the store. A volunteer will contact you within 3-5 business days for a possible meet and greet. The $100 adoption fee allows us to continue to provide care and find loving homes for abandoned and neglected cats in our Eugene/Springfield community. Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All potential adopters are required to complete our application and contract. Our contract stipulates the requirements for care of our pets. These documents are available through e-mail or at our adoption events. The documents are reviewed by our staff and together with a face to face interview we explore the potential new home. If all parties agree to the specifics of the contract the dog or cat can go home. Adoption fee varies with age of pet.
All pets are current on vaccinations, health checked by our veterinarian, De-wormed, treated with flea medication, spayed or neutered, and cats are felv/fiv tested.
