Oh Doug! We love him so much! He's truly the best dog. We think Doug is a purebred German Shorthair Pointer but it's hard to know for sure since he was found as a stray. He was definitely a hunting dog! His favorite thing to do is retrieve his stuffed animals and bring them to you as soon as you walk in the door. For an older gentleman, he is still very active and loves doing zoomies in our fenced in backyard. He gets along great with the children and other dogs in our home. He loves to snuggle on the couch and be near his people. Doug will need to be in a cat free home though due to his prey drive. He has good manners and knows how to sit. He is fully crate and potty trained. Doug stays crated during the day due to the fact that we have cats in our home but he would be perfectly fine not crated in a cat free home. Doug has spent some time with temporary fosters while we were out of town. Here's what they said about him!
Ron: " I've long ago lost count how many dogs have shared my life but I can say without a doubt Doug is at the top of the list. He is totally obedient and loves nothing more than to please his people. He works hard at it, bringing toys and affection and enjoys laying on the couch with his head in your lap."
Laura: " He longs to be a cuddler, but he's more of a flopper!"
Doug is fully vetted and is being fostered near Huntsville, AL.

More about this rescue
Friends of Rescue is a certified 501(c)(3) organization formed in 2009, consisting of volunteers who are devoted to saving shelter animals that are in danger of euthanasia. Southern shelters have a constant overflow of dogs and cats, little funding, and limited space. Once the animals arrive at the shelter, they have very little time. It is our goal to help save these adoptable animals and find loving individuals/families who will provide committed, FORever homes. We are NOT professional trainers or animal behaviorists; simply volunteers who are trying to save these animals from euthanasia. Each animal in our program is in a foster home and receives all age-appropriate vetting while in our care.
