My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Peter E. Penneys Esq., the lovable canine with a tail-wagging charm that melts hearts wherever he goes. Found abandoned late one night at the shelter, Peter may be a tad nervous in the bustling kennels, but once he's in the presence of people, he's all wiggles and wags, ready to shower you with affection. His adoration for stuffed squeaker toys knows no bounds; he'll eagerly bring them to you, his eyes gleaming with excitement, inviting you to join in the fun. With a knack for learning, Peter already knows the command to sit and is a true champ when it comes to training-especially if treats are involved! With his endearing personality and staff-favorite status at the shelter, any family would be fortunate to welcome this delightful pup into their home.

In Peter's world, every day is an opportunity for joy and companionship. Whether he's prancing around with his beloved toys or eagerly sitting for a tasty treat, his zest for life is infectious. With his friendly demeanor and unwavering loyalty, Peter E. Penneys Esq. is more than just a furry friend; he's a bundle of canine sunshine waiting to brighten the lives of those lucky enough to call him family.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
