Flaco is a 2 year old, 12 pound chihuahua / terrier mix from Tijuana.
He has adjusted very well to his NYC life and has gained a lot of confidence since his arrival.
Flaco seems to be completely wee-wee pad trained but goes outside as well. The outside training should be continued and reinforced with a regular schedule.
He walks very well on a leash, although sometimes will stop in his tracks and have to be coaxed. Once he’s in motion again, he’s good. He sometimes is timid going through doorways and currently likes to be held going up and down stairs (which is ok as he’s so light). We think all that will change with time and re-inforcement.
Flaco is adorable, quiet and loves to relax in his bed all day and be doted on… but he’s not needy.. When he first arrived, he was scared but it only took him a few days to fully trust me and be a truly loveable, adorable, little companion.
He’s been good with other dogs, adults, and children and would do well in a low key/medium family.
While his foster is at work, he is kept contained by gates in the kitchen and bathroom. He watches is foster mom leave without any anxiety.
Flaco would make a wonderful addition to any family. Once he trusts you, you are his!
Right now, we believe that Flaco would do best in a home with another dog to help continue to build his confidence.
Vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP, canine coronavirus, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
To apply for Flaco, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.
Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.
