Meet the Pet
This helps The Rescue Crew with pet care costs.
Miss Victoria is a very good-natured and affectionate Dachshund mix that loves nothing more than to cozy up in your lap or tunnel into her blankets. She has gone on adventures to the family cabin and visited grandma in the nursing home where she relished in receiving all the pets from the residents. She does great with kids of all ages, even offering gentle kisses to the little ones. She currently sleeps in her kennel, but she would like me to tell you she would secretly like to sleep in your bed. Under your blankets. With her head on your pillow. Please. :)
Here is other information about Lady Victoria:
Other Dogs: She gets along great with other dogs! She currently lives with a dog her size and has met the neighbor’s large dog. She loves them both! She does not food guard and enjoys playing with her squeaky toys.
Prey Drive: While Victoria does not seem to have a prey drive for small critters (squirrels, birds), she does believe she can propel her short little legs fast enough to catch…..deer. Go big or go home, right?! Note that she has not been cat tested.
Housetraining: Her foster has her on a schedule to go outside and as long as this is maintained, Victoria has no accidents. She is working on learning to ask to go out if the schedule is broken. She is kenneled at night and during the workday and keeps her kennel accident-free.
Barking: She is a typical vocal Dachshund. She has a big-dog bark and will alert to anything she’s unsure of. This includes all men (teenage boys seem to be exempt from this rule). Men take note: Victoria has a soft spot for yummy treats. Just keep these on hands and apparently she comes around quickly!
Leash Manners: She is working on her leash manners and not to jump on people. Her foster is working with her on the “sit” command and she’s responding quite well! Guess what she’s using? Yep, you guessed it….treats!
Victoria is very sweet and will make a great family dog. Don’t miss out on meeting this precious girl!
