My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet BeeBee, a pint sized dog with a heart as big as her home state of Texas!

She's the epitome of high energy, always ready to play fetch or go for a brisk walk. BeeBee's sweet demeanor makes her an instant friend to all she meets. She's known to bring laughter to the room with her goofy antics, keeping everyone entertained. Her friendly disposition makes her a wonderful companion for those seeking a loyal and energetic friend that can keep up with her mental and physical needs. Our team can show you how to setup food puzzles and other activities to exercise her brain! BeeBee spent time in a foster home in Windsor where we learned that she is housetrained, crate trained, and was friendly and loving to everyone she has met.

BeeBee's unique combination of sweetness, friendliness, and humor makes her an ideal pet and instant best friend. Adopting BeeBee will not only give her a loving home but also bring joy, laughter, and a lifetime of unconditional love to your life.

*Please note that there will be an additional $100 fee added to BeeBee's adoption price. This helps us facilitate future transports so dogs like BeeBee have a second chance at a wonderful life - thank you for understanding and helping us save more lives!

BeeBee's adopter should also know that on a routine blood screen she tested positive for Anaplasma, which she acquired from a prior tick bite. This isn't as scary as it may sound, she is not sick and this was only identified as all of our shelter dogs are screened prior to adoption. Here is some additional information:

An IDEXX 4DX test was performed in shelter using whole blood, and a positive Anaplasma test result was noted. Rarely, false positive tests can occur. This test was performed as a part of routine wellness care, and this patient is not currently exhibiting any signs related to Anaplasmosis. This condition was transmitted by a tick bite from an infected tick, and there is no risk of transmission between dogs and other species (including humans). Anaplasmosis is a tick borne infection caused by the bacterium Anaplasma phagocytophilum that live within the white blood cells of their hosts. This patient has been given a prophylactic treatment course of Doxycycline (an antiobiotic). It is recommended that you follow up with your primary care veterinarian to establish a preventive healthcare plan post adoption, including tick prevention.

The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society was founded in 1926 and incorporated in 1949. The Humane Society has a publicly-tendered contract with the City of Windsor to provide animal control and basic shelter services in the City.
