My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FRANCHESCA (Chessie) is such a cutie! She is the perfect combination of sweet and sassy that you would expect from a Jack Russell Terrier.

Chessie is a tiny girl, much smaller than most Jack Russell terriers. She is the perfect size to curl up on your lap.

Chessie likes to go on walks. She will happily trot along beside you. She is used to be on a leash outside, and does not require a fenced yard. She needs a home without a lot of stairs, or someone willing to carry her up the steps. Her knees are a little arthritic, and that makes going up the steps hard. She rides great in the car, but she won't be much for road trip conversation because she will likely be snoozing.

Chessie is sweet and likes to hang out with you. She will follow you around the house and hang out with you wherever you are. Her ideal home would be a quieter home. We think she would be a great companion for a retiree! She gets along well with other dogs, but she can put her sassy pants on at times and try to be bossy, so any other dogs in the home would need to understand that she is sometimes in charge. She also gets along well with the cat in her foster home. She would also be happy as your one and only. No small children for this little lady, though. Kids 12+ only.

Chessie is house trained and crate trained. She also enjoys toys and know how to play fetch!

Submit Application

You can find our application at www.mostlymuttz.org.

2.
Home Check

All persons living in the household are required to be present.

3.
Approve Application

You will receive an approval email from our organization within several days of having your home visit completed.

4.
Meet the Pet

You will be able to adopt at this meeting if it is a match.

5.
Pay Fee

Adoption fees vary based on dog. We accept cash, PayPal or Venmo. The contract will also be signed at this time.

6.
Take the Pet Home

The Initial review of your application will occur within 72 hours.

Please contact your vet authorizing them to release information to us.
Also, let your references know we’ll be calling.

Once your references have been contacted, someone will contact you to schedule a home visit.
After your home visit you will receive an email informing you of your approval.

Schedule a meet/adoption. You will be able to finalize your adoption of the dog at this meeting.

Please read your contract thoroughly before the meeting.

You will be required to send an update at 2 weeks, 6 months, and annually. The email addresses for those updates will be at the bottom of the contract.

If it has been determined that training is a requirement for the dog you’re adopting this will be noted on the contract. You will be required to submit verification of training completion.

Payment by cash is due at the time of adoption. If you choose to use PayPal, payment should be made prior to the meeting/adoption. You will need to forward the electronic email you receive from PayPal, to mostlymuttz@gmail.com to confirm your payment before the meeting/adoption.

Adoption Fees:

Puppies (8 weeks - 1 year old): $450 (If not already altered, a $100 deposit is required in addition to fee. This is refunded upon verification of altering.)

Adults (1yo-7yo): $350

Seniors (7+ years old): $250
