My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

** Poppy spends her days between a foster home and the shelter. She is available for foster or adoption! Email applications@chicagocaninerescue.org to set up a meet + greet! **

She’s a big-hearted homebody with a goofy streak and a serious love for people. Whether she’s snoozing in her crate, doing her little “I gotta potty” dance, or curling up next to you after a long day, Poppy is the definition of a good girl. She`s house trained, crate trained, and has previously lived with kids—total best friend material!

Poppy is obsessed with her humans and bonds hard and fast. She’s not into dog drama (she`d prefer to avoid other dogs entirely), but she’s a dream companion for someone looking for a one-dog love story. Potty walks are short and sweet—just enough time for the important business and a little neighborhood surveillance. In a yard, though? That’s her stage. She’ll chase the water hose like it’s her sworn enemy and survey her kingdom from the top of a picnic table like the queen she is. She`ll also throw down some zoomies!

Poppy is sweet, silly, loyal, and oh-so-ready to soak up all the love you have to give. Could you be her happily ever after?

More about this shelter

CCRF was founded in 2001 to help find permanent, loving homes for homeless dogs in our city. In just over seven years, CCRF has saved the lives of over 2,000 dogs, cats, kittens and puppies.

CCRF now assists the animals that are the MOST vulnerable in Midwest - the dogs and cats that are slated for euthanasia because they are too old, too young, injured, have disabilities, or have simply been overlooked for too long by potential adopters at other shelters.
