My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Buddy was rescued from the shelter in Houston on April 18, 2024, having been picked up as a stray. He's just a little guy, only about 7 months old and 32 pounds. Lucky for Buddy, being a sweet little puppy, he was able to get a spot in a fantastic foster home, where he's been showing off that he's already comfortable living in a house. He has perfect manners so far -- as long as you keep your shoes safely out of reach!

Buddy is a friendly, socially driven little guy who wants to be in the middle of the action. He loves the company of other dogs and will prefer a home where he won't be left all alone when his people go to work. He has not been cat-tested. We haven't had tons of time to get to know this little tyke yet! So far he's been a delightful, happy, playful young dog who just seems ready to get started on living his best life. Stay tuned as we learn and discover more of Buddy's likes and dislikes and the cute little quirks that make him unique.

This doesn't mean he's not available for adoption! He can travel all over the continental US and most of Canada. Alternatively, we'd be happy to find him a foster home up here in Ontario. Please go to our Facebook page or website (lastminutedogrescue.com) to find foster or adoption applications!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

People can submit an adoption application

2.

Interview

First we do reference checks, THEN we do a full 1 to 1.5 hr interview with the applicant

3.

Home Check

Home checks used to be done in person but lately we do a zoom walk through of the home, checking especially the backyard and crate set up

4.

Meet the Pet

If the dog is here in Canada they can do a meet and greet to finalize that they are in fact who they say they are and a good match

5.

Approve Application

we would send an email approving the adopter (or declining if they aren't approved)

6.

Sign Adoption Contract

We would send the adoption contract which they would fill out and send back.

7.

Pay Fee

They would transfer the adoption fee to cover transport costs and vetting of the dog. Then they would come pick up the dog from the foster.

Additional adoption info

No other additional information. Some of our dogs are adopted as soon as they come up on a "foster-to-adopt" trial period to ensure the perfect match.
