Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Oliver is a 15 month old, 65 pound terrier mix that has settled in well at his foster home. He loves cuddling with his foster parents and romping in the backyard with his four legged foster sister. His favorite things to do are play fetch, chew on antlers and sleep in the sun on the deck.
Oliver has very good doggy manners and greets people appropriately with a little hesitation, but once he knows you like dogs, he is happy to get pets or bring you his toy to drop on your feet. Oliver is house trained and crate trained. He is in a crate when his foster parents are away for longer periods but is left free to roam for short times home alone with no issues. Oliver sleeps on the end of the bed with his foster parents but on hot nights happily sleeps in a dog bed next to the bed. Oliver does occasionally enjoy shoes or slippers but is easily corrected and they seem to be his only vice.
Oliver was returned to Fur Fun with many tears because Oliver's energy level is not appropriate for small children. Oliver does very well with dog savvy older children and children for short periods of time, but living with young, small, loud children was too much stress for Oliver. Sudden loud noises, quick movements make Oliver too nervous and anxious and small children are full of loud noises and quick movements! Oliver has done wonderfully with a confident foster dog to show him the way in a quieter foster home with a less busy routine.
Oliver has been through basic obedience, walks well on a leash, sits on command. He does not jump up on people or surfaces and comes when called. Oliver would do well in a home with children over 12 and with another dog to show him the ropes. Oliver requires a physically fenced yard for safety and it would be nice if it had a patch of sun for him to sunbathe.
Oliver will be a wonderful companion for people looking for a dog who has an old soul in a young body. He appreciates a slower lifestyle with some play time but then a long nap in the sun or just chilling on his dog bed while watching you work. If you want a low key buddy, Oliver may be the right dog for you!
Oliver is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped.
