Bouncer is our longest resident and has been waiting longer than anyone should, but he has never let that dull his spirit. At around 5 years old and about 64 pounds, Bouncer is a handsome, strong-looking dog who can seem intimidating at first glance but give him a moment, and you’ll quickly discover he is all heart.
Bouncer came to Al-Van with several malignant tumors that required surgical removal, and he handled it all like a champ. He is now a cancer survivor, and his resilience is just one of the many things that makes him special. Over time, he has also mellowed out a bit, trading some of his youthful bounce for a calmer, more people-focused presence.
He loves being near his humans and thrives on connection. Ear massages and butt scratches are at the top of his favorites list, and he happily leans in for affection once he feels comfortable. While he can still get excited and show off his signature bounce, he walks well on a harness and continues to improve his manners with guidance and consistency. Bouncer is alert, curious, and enjoys keeping an eye on his surroundings, especially if squirrels are involved. He is open to having dog friends and would do best with someone who appreciates both his playful side and his softer moments.
This sweet, resilient boy has been overlooked for far too long. Bouncer is ready for a home where he can finally relax, feel secure, and be loved for the loyal companion he is. If you’re looking for a dog with a big heart, a survivor’s spirit, and a serious appreciation for good scratches, Bouncer may be your perfect match.
