My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Poor Mason can't seem to catch a break. He has been found as a stray at least twice in his life, and twice taken to the overcrowded animal control facility in Philly. Thankfully he has found his way to GOT: we always find the very best adopters and Mason will never see the inside of a shelter ever again.

Mason was badly matted when he got to the shelter, but thankfully did well for grooming and is now a handsome yet adorably scruffy boy. Unfortunately his dental procedure did not go so well, as a heart arrhythmia prevented our vet from safely completing his cleaning. The worst of his teeth were removed though, and Mason is fully recovered and back on a mix of small kibble and canned foods. He has no symptoms or other issues related to his heart, and is overall a healthy and happy little guy.

We suspect that Mason is used to being an only child, as he is very needy and clingy and really struggled being left alone when he first came here. The pack has been great for him though, and he has made friends, learned to wrestle and play, and has become much more independent (although he's still always ready for a snuggle and is happy to go for walks or rides in the car.) Mason has done well with house training, loves meeting new people, is curious but safe around cats, and would likely do well with polite young children who don't mind being gently chewed on from time to time. Mason is a sweet and friendly little guy who will do best in a home where someone is home more often than not. Please consider giving him the second (or third!) chance he deserves!

More about this rescue

Good Old Tails Senior Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of senior dogs and cats in the Southern Pennsylvania/Northern Maryland areas.
We believe that senior animals deserve loving, caring homes where they will be taken care of the rest of their days.

Good Old Tails Senior Animal Rescue was founded in 2015 by a small group of animal lovers. Years of rescue showed us that the senior demographic in shelters is often the most overlooked and highly euthanized. These animals are discarded because of failing health, new pets in the family, a lack of time for attention and care, and countless other reasons which Good Old Tails finds deplorable. Pets are a commitment for life, not until they are an inconvenience. We are dedicated to saving as many senior dogs and cats as we can, and providing them with love and care so that they can live out the rest of their days with dignity and happiness. Some of these animals may never leave our rescue, and their foster families will be the ones to say the last good-bye. Others will go on to find families of their own. Whatever the outcome, we have made the promise to them that they will never again be alone.
