My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Recently rescued from a local public shelter where he landed after being found as a stray and spent weeks waiting for his special someone to claim him.
Jose is grateful to finally be out of a shelter cage and is settling in...quickly showing his sweet and loving nature. While we cannot guarantee his heritage, he appears to be an Egyptian Mau..with his unique silver tabby-spotted coat . The Egyptian Mau cat personality is affectionate and friendly, and they often form a strong bond with just one person. Egyptian Maus are very playful when feeling comfortable and can make lovely faithful companions. Here's what his foster mom has to say about him..."He is a super social cat that I think will make someone very happy. He is very sweet and actively follows me around the room, and is always in one of three states: laying in the window seat watching birds, paws on the baby gate peeking over hoping I’ll come visit, or sleeping. He lets me pick him up and hold him, flops over next to me, puts his paws on my shoulders or arm, and has started playing with crinkle balls and feather toys. He loves wet food now. I wish I could adopt him myself!" Microchipped. Meet him in Alexandria, VA Posted 5/23/24

Additional adoption info

We strive to make the "purr-fect" match through our interview and application process. Adoption fees, which range from $165-$185, include all medical work (FELV/FIV testing, shots; spay/neuter, etc); home visits may be required prior to final placement. The majority of our kittens are only available for adoption in pairs or as a companion to another young cat/kitten already in the home. Sorry, but we do not adopt very young kittens to families with children under 6 yrs old due to safety concerns for both child and kitten. Adopters also receive a certificate for a free comprehensive wellness exam at any Caring Hands Animal Hospital.

Go meet their pets

All of our cats are cared for in cage-free private foster homes; therefore, we request an application be completed before setting up appointments to meet them. Request an application by emailing us through our website. Adopters must live within a reasonable driving distance to No. VA ( maximum 60 minutes); we do not ship/transport our animals.

More about this rescue

We are a small, private feline-only rescue group dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of homeless cats and kittens. We do not have a shelter and rely on a group of dedicated foster homes to care for our felines until a "fur-ever" home can be found. We actively promote the importance of spaying and neutering and best practices in companion animal care. The majority of our cats/kittens come from high-kill shelters. We do not receive any government funding and rely on private contributions, 100% of which go to provide medical care, food and supplies.
