Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meila is a beautifully marked tabby young lady who came to FHS when her owner relocated. She is an independent spirit whose favorite hang-out spot is a shelf on the outdoor catio. Indeed, it is never too hot outside for Meila, who will be found stretched out on the floor, if not on her shelf, on the hottest of summer days, and who spends short amounts of time inside the room housing the cats in the feline community setting. While the owner noted that Meila is good with other cats, dogs and children, in the shelter Meila spends most of her time by herself, and her occasional interactions show her to be dominant, with the others giving her a wide berth. Loud noises make her nervous and she is apt to be happiest in a quiet home. Meila occasionally will show interest in playing with toys and will allow short periods of petting from humans, but she does not like to be picked up. Her favorite enrichment activities involve food! Meila is most likely to do well in a home with adults and older children who are accustomed to the ways of independent cats and who are willing to love her on her own terms. It is quite possible that outside the shelter environment, she will become more social with trusted family members who will give her the time and space to become her best self.
