My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Dave
Age: Approximately 7 yrs old
Good with dogs: yes, if introduced properly, but I prefer not to share my humans with other dogs
Good with cats: haven`t met the cats but I love everyone
Good with kids: there are no kids in my foster home but I love everyone. I am a strong guy who would probably do better with older kids.
Size: Large

Hi I`m Dave!

I am a happy, friendly, character who is always ready with a wagging tail and a playful spirit. I love a good laugh and my antics are sure to keep you entertained. I`m a firm believer in spreading love and positivity, and I`m looking for a family who could use a little more of both. I love my people and want to be with you all the time, however I don`t like to share my people so I would do best as the only dog in the home.

I know I might look like a tough guy at first glance, but I’m a total love bug. I don’t know all the details of my early days, but I’ve got a few old stories written into me, like this occasional limp. It’s from an old injury, but don’t worry about me, it doesn’t slow me down. I still love walks and car rides, and I’m always ready to go.

I will let you know when it’s time for snuggles, and I’m very convincing about it. I LOVE belly rubs!

I’m a pretty quiet guy most of the time, as I don’t bark at every sound or person coming and going. I do well on a leash, enjoy taking my time outside. At night, I’m happy to sleep in my own crate, bed, or share yours. During the day, you’ll usually find me curled up on the couch or stretched out by your feet, keeping you company. I really enjoy being outdoors, so you’ll just want to keep an eye on me when doors open.

I’m potty trained, I don’t mess with things that aren’t ’t mine, and I’m working on coming back when you call me. I might beg a little when you’re eating, can you blame me? but I settle down and leave you alone after.

Everyone I meet seems to fall in love with me. I hear them say I’m “a good boy,” and I think that’s the nicest thing anyone can be. I’m ready for a home where I can give my loyalty, my companionship, and all the snuggles I’ve been saving up.

I can`t wait to meet you.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All adoptions begin with an adoption application, available here or on our website (or from one of our wonderful volunteers in person). The application is reviewed by the adoptable animal's foster home as well as by the appropriate coordinator (canine/feline) to assess how the animal will fit in your home. We endeavour to respond to all applications within 72 hours, but being 100% run by volunteers sometimes we need additional time--if you haven't heard back after 72 hours, feel free to contact us to check in on your application.

Canine Adoption Fees:
$450 for puppies under 1 year of age
$375 for dogs over 1 year & under 7 years
$300 for dogs 7 years and older

Feline Adoption Fees:
$250 for kittens and cats up to 12 months old
$200 for cats between 1-6 years old
$150 for cats 6 years old and older

Adoption fees help offset the cost to our organization of providing full medical care (including spay or neuter surgery) to each animal we adopt to a furever home.

More about this rescue

The Barrhead Animal Rescue Society (B.A.R.S.) was established in January 2010, and is dedicated to ensuring the humane treatment of all animals in the Town of Barrhead, the County of Barrhead and surrounding areas.

We provide a safe and nurturing environment for unwanted, abandoned, lost, and mistreated pets until they can be placed into loving homes. Through proactive intervention, public education, fundraising events, and community outreach, the Barrhead Animal Rescue Society seeks to promote respect for all life by breaking the cycle of abuse, neglect, and pet overpopulation in our communities.

The Barrhead Animal Rescue Society is supported through private contributions.
