My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The handsome Blake is such a sweetheart. He is initially shy with people but will greet you every morning in no time, (as he did while staying with me).

He loves to explore his new surroundings with great curiosity, and if you already have a Ponytail Palm, be prepared for regular trimmings because Blake loves plants and cat grass. Note that he does have the typical scaredy-cat gene which means that when he discovers something new, he can get a little jumpy as he did when he discovered the front-loading washing machine!

Though he is a little plump, he loves to run after long pieces of string which doubles down into play and exercise for him. But mostly, Blake loves to sunbathe or rest on a pouff all day long, sometimes leaving his spot simply to show his affection and get free back rubs or brushings.

Feel free to tell him stories as he loves to have conversations with his humans.
Ultimately, he is a very gentle, calm and polite furry friend who is happy with a windowsill, a soft bed, back rubs, a clean litter box, a scratching post and, of course, his nuggets!

More about this shelter

Founded in Montreal in 1869, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (now known simply as the Montreal SPCA) was the first animal-welfare organization in Canada. It is not known under whose influence the society was formed, but its history acknowledges assistance from animal-welfare societies in France, England and the United States. In its early years, the SPCA concentrated primarily on improving the treatment of work horses, which were used all across the island of Montreal. The SPCA later began working on additional issues, such as humane dog control, cock-fighting and the killing of wild birds. The SPCA has come a long way since its beginnings: today, it is the largest animal-protection organization in Quebec, speaking on behalf of animals wherever there is ignorance, cruelty, exploitation or neglect.
