Their adoption process

Application First, individuals can review adoptable animals by clicking “Adopt” at the top of the screen. All potential adopters must fill out an adoption application under the same tab. The application includes two non-family references as well as information on the potential adopter’s landlord and designated veterinarian. References will be contacted separately to obtain the requisite information. Meet and Greet Once the application and references have been successfully reviewed and approved, a NPAR representative will reach out to the potential adopter to set up a meet and greet with the dog. Home Visit The home visit is the final important piece in identifying a safe home for all of our dogs. A NPAR representative will schedule a visit that fits your schedule. We ask that all family members are present. Contract The contract can be signed at the conclusion of the home visit or at a later date. Payment can also be arranged at this time, either online or via check. The adoption fee takes care of the cost to spay/neuter, feed, and transport our rescues. Some adopters also choose to make a donation at this time. Payment: Online or by check Unless a veterinarian advises otherwise, our dogs all receive: vet exam, spay or neuter, microchip, DHPP, bordatella, rabies vaccs, fecal exam, heartworm test, deworming, flea/tick preventative, and heartworm preventative, as well as additional services, as needed. Heartworm positive dogs also undergo heartworm treatment, which the rescue covers. The adoption fee covers these costs as well as any local boarding when foster homes are full and the costs of transport.

More about this rescue

Nerdy Paws Animal Rescue is a not-for-profit, volunteer-based animal rescue organization that advocates on behalf of homeless animals abandoned in severely under-resourced shelters throughout the Southeast region of the U.S. We place each adoptable companion into foster homes until his or her perfect "furever" home comes along. We endeavor to circulate knowledge and promote initiatives that support compassion toward animals, such as responsible companion animal relationships, as well as legislative objectives, policies, and procedures that promote the humane treatment and better overall welfare of our four-legged friends.
