Bugs was originally adopted in February 2023 but was sadly returned in June 2024. His first family loved him very much, especially their young son, but like we had explained from the beginning, rabbits are always a family pet. The responsibility for their care and daily routine always falls on the parents. A year later, before heading out on summer travels, the family made the difficult decision to bring him back to us.
Bugs is a sweet, curious, and relaxed boy who absolutely thrives on attention. He’s extremely friendly and social, often following you around and demanding head scratches like a little puppy. His favorite trick is to run to the edge of his enclosure the moment he sees you coming, ready for love.
He’s easy to handle, loves being petted, and even enjoys sitting calmly on laps (our foster’s young children can hold him without any scratching or fuss). While he’s not overly high-energy, he does the occasional happy binky and has a knack for turning cardboard boxes into his own little obstacle courses. His favorite greens are spring mix and carrots, though he’ll never say no to a bite of banana.
Bugs is very good with his litter box, missing only a few poops near the box each day. He does need a family willing to bunny-proof their home — his teeth are powerful, and he won’t hesitate to test baseboards, rugs, or even a good book if it’s left in reach.
Ideal Home
Bugs would do best with a family that can give him plenty of love and interaction while also being patient as he gets comfortable. He can be a little territorial with new people at first and may give a small nip, but once he trusts you, he’s fiercely loyal.
A Few Things to Know
• He LOVES to be pet and will never say no to head scratches.
• He’s adventurous, so keep an eye on him when free roaming.
• His chewing power is no joke — bunny-proofing is a must!
Bugs is a loyal, affectionate bunny who is just waiting for the right family to give him the love and stability he deserves.

SOS FL Animal Rescue is a non-profit rescue for rabbits and guinea pigs. We are animal lovers who are experienced rabbit and guinea pig owners. We both fostered small animals with other rescues for years before meeting each other and deciding to start our own rescue so that more rabbits and guinea pigs could be saved. We take in all rabbits and guinea pigs, including unwanted animals, seniors, and medical cases.
