My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Katara
Approximate Age: 3years
Possible breeds: Pit-bull mix
Good with kids: Unknown
Good with dogs: Selective - meet and greet required
Good with cats: No
Housebroken: Yes - with schedule

This girl is an almost 3 year old, bully mix. She`s small and compact coming in at about 45lbs. Yes, she`s stout and yes, she likes her treats! She is pretty athletic despite this, as fences are no match for her and her climbing skills! She lived with other dogs prior to coming to the shelter, but a meet and greet with any potential canine housemates is a must. She is a pretty shy girl, but warms up quickly with snuggles and snacks!!

More about this shelter

The Aberdeen Area Humane Society serves the northern South Dakota and southern North Dakota area. We are here in the interests of animal welfare. We place homeless animals into good homes as well as rescue animals from abusive situations. We have a shelter facility just southwest of Aberdeen and house many animals while we try to find them good homes. We are a non-profit organization and are funded by memberships, donations, fundraisers and adoptions.

If you suspect an animal is being mistreated and/or abused, contact us. We will investigate or refer to the appropriate agency. Your call can be kept confidential and we will handle the rest.
