My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Esmeralda: A Story of Perseversance

Esmeralda is a gorgeous, 10-year-old black cat who joined our program in June 2024. She was faithfully fed outside for a year by a kind woman who had to move. Upon intake, we discovered she was microchipped to a previous organization and, at 19 pounds, was dealing with significant weight issues. Due to this, we decided to keep her in our care to focus on her health.

Now she has blossomed and has become much healthier! Esmeralda has already lost a considerable amount of weight, thanks in part to her absolute love for chasing a laser pointer! This active girl just needs a little motivation to move. She is sweet to many people and her meows will make you smile!

Esmeralda is looking for a dedicated adopter who will continue her weight management journey, which includes keeping her on a specialized diet and utilizing fun toys like her favorite laser pointer! Adopt Esmeralda and help this wonderful senior continue her path to a happy, healthy weight!

We are an at-home foster and foster from our homes. When you apply please be specific as to what cat you are interested in, as they are often not fostered in the same place.

More about this rescue

Conquer the Colony is a 501c3 non-profit cat rescue. We are an in-home fostering rescue - meaning we foster from our own homes and do not have a central shelter space. Our main focus and mission is TNR - the trap, neuter, and return of feral cats. We are a small rescue that relies solely on donations and volunteer time. We work tirelessly to improve the lives of all cats, both feral and friendly.
