My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Yeti!

Breed: Lab/Shepherd Mix
Estimated DOB: 10/15/2023
Sex: Male (neutered)
Weight: 55-60 lbs
Currently up to date on all age appropriate vaccinations

Things To Know about Yeti:

  • Yeti was rescued with his 5 littermates in Mississippi after growing up in a small outdoor pen

  • While with TLC for the last year+, Yeti has been learning how to live life as a housedog in a foster home, but he is still unsure about new humans. He continues to make progress through counter-conditioning & desensitization. Our friends at Metropolitan Veterinary Associates and their Vet Behaviorist, Dr. Hauser, have been working with Yeti to help him learn that the world isn't such a scary place.

  • Yeti loves his trusted people and is affectionate once he feels safe and comfortable

  • He has the silliest, goofiest personality

  • Making progress with desensitization to human touch, visiting new places & meeting new people

  • Walks well on leash in familiar areas but can still be skittish with sudden movements or loud sounds

  • Rides well in the car

  • Will do best with older kids/teens who are respectful of his space

  • In addition to couches and dog beds, Yeti has discovered the perfect chill-out spot in the empty bathtub when he gets overwhelmed - his own personal zen den!

  • Enjoys running around outside and will benefit from having a fenced in yard

  • Toy enthusiast who enjoys playing with stuffies and bones

  • Very food motivated and absolutely smitten with cheese

  • Crate trained and sleeps comfortably in his crate overnight

  • Housebroken

  • Dog friendly - If you are looking for a friend for your dog(s), Yeti is your guy! He will need a home that has at least 1 other dog to help show him the ropes

  • He currently lives with multiple male and female dogs of various ages and sizes

  • Cat friendly - uninterested in the cat he met

  • Looking for a loving and committed forever home to provide him with the care and love he deserves

Additional adoption info

When you adopt from TLC, you become a part of our family. We will be there for you with continued support even after adoption.

At TLC, our adoption process is simple and straight-forward. We want you to find a new family member and we want our rescue dogs to find their forever home. There is no cost to apply and we do not require you to put a deposit on a dog to be able to meet a dog. An application does not obligate or limit you to adopting the dog listed on the application.

Applications are carefully considered and processed by our applications team. After submission, an adoption counselor will contact you to conduct an interview where together you will assess your needs and work to find the right match. We speak to veterinary references, landlords and personal references before approving an application.

More about this rescue

To Love a Canine Rescue, Inc. (TLC) is a non-profit, all breed, 100% foster-based, no-kill rescue operating in Chester County, PA. Our mission is to rescue and find permanent homes for abandoned, stray and surrendered dogs in order to minimize the needless euthanizing of animals.

We have a passion for saving dogs as well as a thirst to educate the community on reducing the number of dogs needing rescue. From puppies to seniors, there is a perfect dog out there for everyone. We pride ourselves on making the right connection between dog and family in order to give our dogs their final, joyful, loving home. Ultimately, our wish would be for empty shelters so no dog is left behind… until they all have a home.

TLC is designated as a 501(c)(3) by the IRS. Donations made to TLC are fully tax-deductible as allowed by law. The official registration and financial information of TLC may be obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of State by calling 1-800-732-0999. Registration does not imply endorsement.
