My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Monty is ready to find his forever home!

This handsome boy is much smaller than he looks, weighing in around 30lbs. We do not know what type of doggie he is but he seems to be some sort of golden mix (no guarantees).

Monty has a heart full of love waiting to be shared with an understanding family. He loves nothing more than being by your side, whether it's hanging in the backyard or lounging together on lazy afternoons. Monty is a loving and playful companion who thrives on affection and belly rubs. One of his hugs will warm your heart right up! He is the perfect snuggle partner to unwind with at the end of the day. Despite his past, he has shown incredible affection for people who show him kindness.

Monty has got along with just about every dog that he has met (if another dog growls at him first he tends to hold a grudge). He can also be a little bratty at the vet, but hey, it can be scary for doggies!

We'd recommend no cats or small animals - unfortunately he "played a little too rough" with a bunny in the yard once. We also think that he would be best in a family without small children - Monty needs his space and he needs to be left alone until he can trust.

Monty is heartworm positive and his adopters will have to working with us while he is undergoing treatment. Heartworm disease is NOT contagious to you or your other pets, and despite what you may read online it is not extremely challenging to manage. Monty just won't be able to go running with you until he is heartworm negative. Vet appointments will be in Lisle, IL.

He is a total sweetheart and would be a great addition to your family.

(PLEASE NOTE: despite what Petfinder, AdoptaPet and other aggregation services say, the FIRST STEP is to submit an application on our website, not message us through their online portals. Thank you!)
