My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Heebie is an elderly male who born in January 2024.  His mother came into the rescue after being kept in poor conditions in a closing pet store.  Heebie is shy but gentle and will need time to adjust to a new home.  He has spent his entire life in foster care.  He is by himself because he recently lost his last littermate.  He should go to a home with experience with the care of senior rats and ideally the company of some other senior boys.

Proof of a proper enclosure is required:  one with solid floors and shelved to prevent foot injuries, bar spacing small enough to prevent escape or heads getting caught, good ventilation to prevent respiratory issues, and enough room to climb, explore, and provide enrichment activities like digging, burrowing, and balancing.  Like other animals, rats are very intelligent and need mental stimulation.  Four cubic feet per rat is optimal.  Rats are heat sensitive, so cage placement is important:  an area in the home that does not get too hot in the warmer weather.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We are a small rescue who cares for all our pets in
foster homes. We do NOT have a facility & all animals
are seen by appointment only, after an application has
been approved.
Dogs' adoption fee includes vetting, spaying/neutering, and any health care they may need. For some dogs, the fee may be reduced for reasons that can be made available. Cats' adoption fee include vetting, spaying/neutering, and any health care. All are heartworm negative. We require all possible adopters to fill out an adoption application, and to submit themselves to home visits by staff or volunteers, or by local rescues. Vet reference will be required and will be used. Upon adopting, an adoption contract will be signed. Call me or email to start this process.

More about this rescue

I got involved with rescue work out of love for animals. I had decided to set up my own rescue. I serve mostly deaf animals because they are first to be put down and are usually deemed untrainable, unadoptable and unlovable. I didn't feel this was right or fair.
