My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Qira is a senior boxer mix, almost 10 years old, and she has spent most of her life — about seven years — growing up in a shelter. Because of that, she isn’t a dog who gives her heart to everyone right away… but when she chooses you, she chooses you completely.
Qira bonds slowly and thoughtfully. She is selective with new people and needs time to feel safe, especially with strangers. Once trust is built, though, she is deeply affectionate and devoted. When she loves you, she wants to be close — lying quietly beside you, checking in often, and occasionally nudging under your arm to politely demand attention.
Despite her age, Qira still has joyful puppy moments. She loves the snow, runs and plays outside, and will happily chase shadows (possibly thanks to being blind in one eye). On playful days, she’ll even chase your shadow if you move around with her. When you sit on the floor, she’ll confidently plop herself into your lap — even though she is very much not a lap-sized dog.
Qira shows affection in tender, meaningful ways: resting her forehead against yours, offering the occasional gentle “kiss,” and choosing to stay close rather than roam. She knows her people — if she sees her favorite person arrive, she lights up, pulls toward them on leash, and will even refuse to walk past their office door if she knows they’re nearby.
Because of her history, Qira will need:
A patient, adult-only home
A slow, respectful introduction process with potential adopters
Multiple visits to build trust before adoption
To be the only pet in the home (she is not suited for cats, and dog compatibility is unknown)
Qira is not a dog for everyone — and that’s okay. She is a dog for someone special. Someone calm. Someone kind. Someone willing to earn her trust and be rewarded with fierce loyalty and quiet companionship.
If you believe love is something you build, not something you rush, Qira may be waiting for you.

More about this shelter

Faithful Friends Animal Advocates, Inc is a non-profit organization committed to helping our community become a place where animals are treated with kindness and respect. Further, we want to be a voice for the welfare of animals in our community through various avenues.

We fulfill these goals by taking in homeless and vulnerable animals, rehabilitating, vetting, and preparing them for their future home, and ensuring that they are a good fit for those interested. Our goal is longevity - we are thorough when approving applications because we want their next home to be forever.

Our pledge to the animals under our charge knows no time limits. Our no-kill mission means that as long as it takes, we will keep searching for their perfect home. And if during that search, they need to rejoin our care, we welcome them with open arms no matter how long it has been.

People
From our paid staff to volunteers that support us at events and throughout the week, the dedicated and passionate community members that are involved in FFAA's mission are what keep us going. We always welcome new faces! If you are interested or know someone who would like to support our efforts, please contact us. We could not do it without our foster families, dog walkers, kennel cleaners, puppy and kitten socializers, event organizers, artists, chefs - everything we do is a group effort and thanks to the time and effort given freely and faithfully year after year.
