8/27/25 Temporary Care Feedback: Gayle checking in here!
Since I have such a great brain, I have figured out "Bark to text". I have to say my current person doesn't seem very committed to me. He tells me that it's time to find somewhere else to live.....forever? Whatever! His loss!
I have no problem snoozing the day away quietly while he is at work, and if after all that snoozing all I get is a couple potty breaks, 5 minutes of play time, and a little something to chew on, I have no problem sleeping the night away as well. I don't need much, but that doesn't mean I don't want it. I will be very happy to spend as much of my time with you as I can. Being with people is my favorite. Let's meet up soon!

5/17/25 Temporary Care Feedback: I have had Gayle mostly away from the shelter for just a little over a month and a half. She sometimes has to go back for a few days here and there. She has been an absolutely great house guest. I can only imagine how she would thrive in a more stable home environment, whether that be in an adoptive or foster home. Not that this is about me, but I am the shleter coordinator at 4 Luv with a full-time job, many of my days can end up being thirteen plus hours away from home. That said, Gayle does absolutely great being left alone for that long. She is great at sleeping the day away. I leave her with a Kong or a similar enrichment treat; she’ll enjoy it and then settle onto her dog bed or the recliner. While she is kennel trained, she doesn't ruin anything left alone.
Given the opportunity Gayle loves to play, whether that is a light game of tug of war, romping around with a football or jolly ball. She is such a fun and goofy girl when she is playing. Gayle really does best with a fenced yard for potty breaks and outside time. She can get distracted easily on the leash. This is one thing I wish I had more time to work on, although I have seen improvements and we are closer to the 3-week mark than the 3-month mark ( the old 3-day,3-week,3-month rule) in a new home. She is a very smart girl with the potential to get that dialed in.
Beyond when there are large groups of runners or someone riding a bike or skateboard loud and fast (see distracted easily on the leash), Gayle loves every person she meets and her body jiggles like a bowl of Jello to say hello. She has been better at loud runner/bike/skateboarder leash issues, but we don't want surprises when you adopt her next week. Gayle really is a sweet dog and volunteer favorite.
10/9/24 Building Volunteer Feedback: I took Gayle for the evening the other day and discovered that she is a super sweet girl! She stands so nicely for you while you put her harness on and behaves wonderfully in the car! Gayle prefers to be in the passenger seat and have the windows open so she can be close to her people but still able to smell everything as well! We went on a walk around MB Johnson Park and she had her nose to the ground for most of it when she wasn't trying to get people to pet her! Gayle also laid down for a bit and watched all of the people on mountain bikes go by as she was a little unsure of them at first. After our walk we went to 4 Luv's dog training class and we worked on the "sit" and "down" cues as well as learning that she can't play with every dog that she sees. I also learned that Gayle is treat selective as I offered her three different types of treats but she would only eat cheese sticks! Overall she's a sweetheart who loves cheese sticks and going on walks where she can sniff and follow scents. I would say that Gayle would do best in a family that can help her get more exposure when it comes to the outside world and one that can help build her confidence!
9/16/2024 Foster Feedback: Gayle loves to play with canine companions, but when it comes to her favorite toys, she would prefer not to share. She would love a dog friend that would play and romp, but also respect her boundaries when it comes to her favorite things. A big dumb friend or a submissive pal would be a great match for this beautiful girl!
9/9/24 Foster Feedback: Gayle is an awesome dog who becomes friends with everyone she meets. She is friendly and affectionate and adores pets and butt scratches! My neighbor girls, who are in upper elementary, love to pet and play with her. Gayle is very gentle and appropriate with them. She is dog friendly, and it seems that she would love a playmate. She is definitely an active player and would like to have another active dog to play with. My dogs do not like to play with her and Gayle is fine being separated from them.
Gayle is perfect in the kennel and is potty trained as long as you watch for her cues. Gayle is a real catch, and a family would be lucky to have this sweet girl!
