Meet Dandelion

At five-and-a-half years old, Dandelion is the perfect blend of playful and poised. She’s happy to greet you with a wagging tail and bright, loving eyes, but she’s not over-the-top — just genuinely excited to see her favorite people. She has a fun, lighthearted spirit without the puppy-level chaos.

Dandelion enjoys playtime and will happily romp around or enjoy a little burst of zoomies, but she settles nicely and loves to relax right by your side afterward. Belly rubs are still high on her list of favorite things, and she won’t hesitate to flop over and soak up the attention.

She’s active enough to keep life fun, yet mature enough to appreciate the quiet moments too. If you’re looking for a dog who can enjoy a good play session and then curl up close for some quality time, Dandelion is ready to bloom in your home.

Our staff will work with potential adopters to help them find the right fit for their family as adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment.

Adoption Prices
Cats/Kittens: $75
Adult Dogs: $75
Heartworm Positive Dogs: $100
Puppies: $150 to $300

The prices listed above include the pet's spay/neuter, initial vaccines up to date, rabies vaccine, monthly preventatives (heartworm and flea/tick prevention), heartworm testing in all adult dogs (6 months and older), FeLv/FIV testing in all adult cats (6 months and older).

A $5 microchip fee is added to every adoption.

If you live in Pittsylvania County, you will be required to purchase a Pittsylvania County dog tag for an additional $5 (cash only).

Mission Statement:

The Pittsylvania Pet Center is committed to protecting the health, safety and well-being of all companion animals by working with Animal Control Officers in the enforcement of state and local laws, reducing the number of stray and homeless animals, and providing the best care possible for every animal that comes through our doors.
We will shelter and care for homeless, abandoned, and lost animals, work to keep and place animals in safe, loving homes, and provide education and resources to pet owners to enhance their lives and the lives of their companion animals.

We will strive to be the voice for the animals in our community and ensure that they are properly cared for. We believe that collaboration is key in animal welfare. Our organization will work with the local community, other shelters and rescues, and veterinary professionals to ensure that every one of our adoptable animals find a forever home.
