Copper’s family is moving and cannot take Copper with them. He is a dear, sweet young dog who is the whole package: smart, loyal, devoted to his family, good with children, enjoys playing with other dogs, likes cats and housetrained.
He knows basic commands: SIT, STAY, DO PAW (and OTHER PAW) and HIGH FIVE. He has great recall when out in the yard.
He lived with a young niece and nephew (4 and 8) stay for 1 month and he absolutely loved them and loved to cuddle.
He lives with 2 cats. He likes them and is very sweet and cuddly to 1 of our cats and plays with it. He ignores the other cat because that cat does not care for him.
A home that has a big yard, either fenced or not close to a major road, would be best. Copper loves to be outside all of the time. He really would do well with a home that already has a dog but if not, he needs to go to the dog park for socialization multiple times a week.
No soft toys, they will be destroyed. He has a super chewer bark box and those toys will last about 2-3 months until they are no longer interesting to him. He loves rope toys but he will try to tear them apart.
Copper is a very good boy and is just a bundle of love. He has a lot of energy but once he calms down, his head will be in your lap so he can take a nap the rest of the day. He knows basic obedience but is so smart that I think he would do really well if someone wanted to do more advanced obedience with him.
