My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mrs. Spots is a 7 year old terrier mix that was transferred to us from Animal Care Services in Corpus Christi, TX. When Mrs. Spots arrived she was somewhat protective of her puppies but not to an extent worth being concerned about, she was an amazing caring mother and deeply yearned for her puppies anytime it was time for a walk. Mrs. Spots 6 puppies were eventually removed from her care once they were old enough to eat on their own. This left a huge hole in Mrs. Spots heart, she is looking for her human to feel whole again. Mrs. Spots is a goofy dog that is so loving and gentle with people she craves human interaction and love. She likes light walks, pets, and would love to cuddle up in your home. She loves the outdoors, running and playing with her human but, with her current Heartworm diagnosis (is common and treatable, treatment included with adoption fee) she is on light walks for now, once treatment is over she can resume her normal dog zoomies! Mrs. spots is the definition of a sweet dog when it comes to people. She does prefer to be the center of attention in any home. She is an amazing dog that would love to be a part of your family. Please consider opening your home to this former mother that is longing for a family and has so much love and kisses to give.

More about this shelter

Gulf Coast Humane Society is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter that houses hundreds of adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens.

We were founded on January 15th, 1945 by a group of animal lovers with Frances Weil leading the cause. In April of 1998, we began operating out of our current facility which was donated to us by Tom and Cora Keeler.

Since our beginning, we have been dedicated to providing the best care possible to the animals under our roof. Our mission is to find loving, responsible forever homes for all of the orphaned animals at GCHS.

All of our adoptable animals are up to date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, de-wormed, and free of parasites such as fleas and ticks.

Upon adoption, new pet parents are sent home with their new dog's first 6 months of heartworm prevention, a starter bag of food, and a voucher for a free wellness exam at participating veterinarians.

Cats are sent home with a starter bag of food and a wellness exam voucher. A temporary transportation box is also provided.

If you fall in love with a heartworm positive dog, we provide treatment at no extra cost to you.
