Meet Drax – The Sweetheart with a Smile!
Drax is a favorite of the shelter staff, and it’s easy to see why. With his charming grin and soulful eyes, this loving boy has stolen the hearts of staff and volunteers alike. He’s a rare gem who values affection over treats—he’d much rather lean into your chest for a hug than chase after a biscuit.
At first, Drax may be a little shy with new people and unfamiliar places. But once you’ve earned his trust, he’ll become your loyal shadow, always close by and looking to you for comfort and guidance. Whether it’s a walk in the park or an encounter with something new (like a person on a bike!), Drax looks to his trusted humans for reassurance and love.
He knows how to sit for a treat, but his favorite trick is winning you over with his heart. Playful and gentle, Drax is just as happy chasing a toy as he is curled up in your lap giving and receiving affection. One of his most endearing quirks? He won’t come inside unless you open your arms to offer him a hug.
Drax has watched his siblings find their forever homes and wonders when it will be his turn. He’s ready. He’s affectionate. He’s full of love. And he’s hoping for someone to give him the chance he so deeply deserves.

Drax gets along with people and other dogs. We do not know what he thinks of cats. Drax is about a year old and 31 pounds.
We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821).
Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes.

Drax's adoption fee is $300. This covers all age-appropriate shots, microchipping and vetting.
**If you are coming to an adoption event to see a certain dog/cat, please email ahead of time to make sure that dog/cat will be there that day. Please email 1-2 days before the event, as some animals are placed during the week and our list is constantly changing.
