Dexter came to us just in time. After spending most of his life in a shelter, he was beginning to mentally decline—and then suffered a traumatic attack from another dog that left him with injuries to his leg and jaw. He was on the brink of being euthanized, not because he wasn’t worthy, but because no one had taken the time to see him for who he truly is.
Since coming into our care, Dexter has blossomed. With consistent socialization and training, he’s learned how to engage with other dogs more appropriately and has even picked up some solid obedience skills along the way. He’s incredibly smart, eager to please, and his love for food makes training a fun and rewarding experience for both dog and human.
Now nearly 5 years old, Dexter is crate trained, playful, curious, and ready to learn more. After spending the majority of his life in a shelter, he’s still discovering the world—and he’s loving every second of it.
Dexter would thrive in an active, adult-only home that will continue his training and involve him in daily life and adventures. He is dog-selective, especially with dogs in his space, but he’s generally able to walk past other dogs without issue. He truly wants to be the goodest boy—and he's trying his absolute hardest to be just that.
This sweet and resilient boy has been through so much and is still full of love, energy, and potential. All he needs now is a chance—and someone to believe in him.

Potential adopter(s) will meet the dog. At this time there will also be a meet and greet between any other pets included in the household.

More about this rescue
We are a small foster based rescue, not a shelter, comprised of multiple individuals that open their homes to stray, sick, and forgotten animals in need. We began the rescue in the Ligonier Area to focus on issues of stray, abandoned, and neglected animals. We often took in animals for the local police departments instead of having them sent to animal control. We have since expanded and try to cooperate with the public, other rescues, and other animal groups to assist any animal in need. Our primary focus area for intake though is still the Ligonier Valley. Adoptions can be made to any area as long as the adoption process is completed.
